Cooking time: 40 minutes

Spicy food level: Mild
Influenced by Dutch cuisine, this is a specialty dish of Solo city, Central Java. This wonderful dish consists of braised beef tenderloin served in thin sweet and savory watery sauce. It is commonly served with hard boiled egg and assorted vegetables such as string beans, potato, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, carrot, and topped with fried potatoes and a dash of mustard or mayonnaise on the side.
The distinct flavor comes from the use of Indonesian sweet soy sauce, which makes it uniquely Indonesian. Historically, the modification was made to suit the palate of the Sultan of Solo Palace and is a favorite dish of the royal members of Keraton Solo.
